His courage became a soundtrack for history.

But here’s the real question we must ask ourselves:

What about us?

What is the “song” inside you?

What idea has been stirring quietly in your spirit?
What book have you been afraid to write?
What business have you been delaying?
What ministry are you convinced others can lead better than you?

Too many leaders silence their calling because of fear, comparison, or the belief that someone else already has the mic. But here’s the truth:

God didn’t give them your melody.
He gave it to you.

You carry a sound uniquely designed to shape your family, your organization, your community, and perhaps even the world. Your purpose is waiting for your permission. Your influence is waiting for your courage.

We forget that classics are rarely born in comfort. They are born in tension, burden, inspiration, and a quiet conviction that says:

“I can’t stay silent anymore.”

Just like Marvin Gaye, you may not feel qualified. You may not feel ready. But purpose does not require perfect conditions—it requires a willing vessel.

Your Life Is Writing a Song

Share

Every decision becomes a lyric.
Every challenge becomes a verse.
Every act of courage becomes the chorus that others will one day sing.

So today, pause and ask yourself:

What am I being called to create?

What sound is waiting to be released through my leadership?

What legacy will echo because I finally stepped out on faith?

The world is still listening.
And the question remains…

What song will you write?

**Ready to Release Your Song?

Experience The Servant’s Touch.**

If you’re ready to step boldly into your purpose, strengthen your leadership voice, and create the impact your life was designed for, The Servant’s Touch is here to guide you.

Through coaching, leadership development, mastermind groups, DISC assessments, and transformational growth pathways, we help leaders like you:

Clarify your vision

Confront internal barriers

Develop your influence

Lead with confidence and impact

Your song deserves to be heard.
Your purpose deserves to be lived.

Take the next step. something we convince ourselves will go away on its own:

an unresolved conflict

a performance issue

a hard conversation we avoid

a habit that’s quietly eroding culture

a boundary we never enforce

a wound we refuse to acknowledge

The truth?

Unaddressed mess grows.
It spreads.
It multiplies.
Eventually, it demands a response—usually when the cost is far higher than it needed to be.

Why We Avoid Cleaning the Mess

Most people don’t avoid problems because they don’t see them.
They avoid them because:

confrontation feels uncomfortable

we fear damaging relationships

we underestimate the long-term cost

we hope time will fix what only courage can

we don’t want to appear difficult or demanding

But servant leadership teaches something different:
Courage is not the absence of fear—it’s the willingness to act for the good of others, even when fear is present.

Ignoring the mess doesn’t make you kind.
Cleaning the mess makes you responsible.

Mess in Leadership Is Always a Growth Moment

Whenever you encounter mess:

You learn to set boundaries.

You learn to communicate clearly.

You learn to protect what matters.

You learn that peace is not the absence of conflict—it’s the mastery of healthy conflict.

One of John Maxwell’s foundational truths is:
“You cannot grow unless you change something.”

The mess you tolerate today becomes the limitation you face tomorrow.

Share

Reflection Questions for Leaders

What mess have I been tolerating out of fear, convenience, or discomfort?

Who do I need to talk to—with humility and clarity—to restore peace or productivity?

What boundary or system needs to be put in place?

What have I allowed that is now affecting my leadership credibility?

What small action can I take this week to stop the mess from spreading?

Leaders are custodians of culture.
And culture is shaped not only by what we celebrate, but by what we tolerate.

A Call to Rise as a Servant Leader

My dad didn’t want to talk, didn’t want to change, didn’t want to build a fence.
But leadership—whether at home, at work, or in community—requires us to stop hoping someone else fixes the mess and instead take the next courageous step ourselves.

You deserve cleaner soil to grow in.
Your team deserves clearer expectations.
Your relationships deserve honest conversations.
Your purpose deserves a leader who won’t ignore what must be addressed.

Call to Action: Experience The Servant’s Touch

If you’re ready to stop tolerating the mess and start leading with clarity, courage, and conviction—The Servant’s Touch is here to walk with you.

Here’s how you can take your next step:

🔹 of abundance—family around the table, laughter filling the room, and gratitude overflowing from the heart. But for many, the holiday doesn’t feel like a celebration.
Some feel the weight of an empty chair.
Some feel forgotten.
Some feel overwhelmed by responsibilities.
Others feel alone—even in a crowded home.

If this is you today, hear this: Your feelings are real, valid, and seen.
And gratitude—far from minimizing your pain—can actually become a lifeline through it.

A Case Study: The Shift That Changed a Leader’s Heart

A young executive named Marcus once told me he dreaded Thanksgiving. While others gathered with loved ones, he often sat alone in his apartment, scrolling through reminders of what he felt he lacked.

But one year, something shifted.

Instead of dwelling on what was missing, he made a quiet decision:
“I’m going to thank God for what remains.”

He began listing small gifts—his breath, his purpose, the resilience that kept him standing, the mentors who had poured into him, and the opportunities ahead.

That small act didn’t erase the loneliness.
But it reframed the moment.
Then the moment reframed his mindset.
And eventually—his mindset reshaped his life.

Gratitude didn’t change his circumstances.
It changed him.

Why Gratitude Matters More Than Ever

Gratitude is not denial. It is direction.
You don’t deny your struggle—you choose where to aim your heart.

Here is what gratitude does:

1. Gratitude grounds your mind.

It interrupts anxiety and brings your focus back to what is true, not just what is loud.

2. Gratitude reframes loss.

You can acknowledge pain while still seeing the gifts that remain.

3. Gratitude unlocks perspective.

It shifts your thinking from “What I lack” to “What God has given me to build from.”

4. Gratitude strengthens resilience.

Leaders who practice gratitude lead with stability. They bend—but do not break.

5. Gratitude increases emotional capacity.

A grateful heart can hold both joy and grief, both hope and hardship.
It is not fragile—it’s fortified.

For Those Feeling Alone Today

If your Thanksgiving table looks different this year, or if your heart feels heavier than you expected, remember:

You can still have a grateful Thanksgiving even without the “picture-perfect” scene.

Try this:

Be grateful for the people who shaped you—even if they’re far away now.

Be grateful for the strength you’ve gained through battles no one saw.

Be grateful for the purpose that still calls your name.

Be grateful for the God who never ghosts, never leaves, and never stops working behind the scenes.

You may be alone—but you are not abandoned.
You may feel empty—but you are not without value.
You may feel forgotten—but you are deeply seen.

Gratitude is not the absence of pain.
It is the presence of perspective.

How Servant Leaders Embrace Gratitude

Servant leaders understand that gratitude is not seasonal—it is strategic.
Here’s how they practice it:

1. They Give Thanks Before the Breakthrough

Gratitude is a mindset, not a moment. Servant leaders thank God and thank others in advance.

2. They See People, Not Problems

They acknowledge the efforts, gifts, and intentions of those around them—publicly and privately.

3. They Celebrate Progress, Not Just Perfection

Small wins matter. Growth matters. Effort matters.

4. They Express Gratitude Out Loud

Silent gratitude serves no one. Encouragement builds morale, trust, and momentum.

5. They Practice Gratitude as a Spiritual Discipline

Prayer, reflection, journaling—all help servant leaders stay centered and grounded.

6. They Create Environments Where Appreciation Flows

Teams grow where gratitude is cultivated. Families heal where gratitude is spoken.
Communities strengthen where gratitude is modeled.
<p class="button-wrapper" where I lead?

A Thanksgiving Benediction

May gratitude soften what has been hardened,
heal what has been wounded,
uplift what has been weary,
and open your eyes to blessings still unfolding.

Even if this holiday feels quiet, heavy, or different—
your story is not over.
Your purpose is not paused.
Your growth is not Fine…”

A mid-level manager named Alyssa had spent months building a partnership with an outside organization—coffee meetings, emails, brainstorming sessions, even holiday planning. There was mutual excitement, clear alignment, and verbal confirmation that the collaboration would launch in January.

Then suddenly—silence.

Emails unanswered. Calls sent to voicemail. Text messages read but never replied to.
No explanation. No closure. No warning. Just… gone.

Alyssa replayed every conversation in her mind, wondering what she missed.
Did she say something wrong? Did priorities shift? Were they ever truly committed?

Soon, excitement turned to confusion… then embarrassment… then resentment.

She didn’t just lose a partnership—she lost peace.

Ghosted — What It Means and Why It Hurts

“Ghosted” is a cultural term used to describe when a person or organization abruptly stops communicating without explanation. Once used mostly in dating, it now shows up in:

Hiring processes

Workplace relationships

Leadership communication

Business partnerships

Friendships and family dynamics

What makes ghosting so painful is not the ending—it’s the silence.

Because silence forces us to:

Fill in the blanks

Assume the worst

Blame ourselves

Question our worth

Replay conversations endlessly

Humans were not created for uncertainty. We are wired to seek closure, connection, and clarity.

So when people disappear—emotionally or professionally—it can trigger:

Anxiety
Self-doubt
Anger or resentment
Feelings of abandonment
Grief or humiliation
Loneliness—especially during the holidays

And during a season marketed as joyful, connected, and warm, ghosting feels even colder.

Why People Ghost—Even If It’s Wrong

Most ghosting isn’t malicious. It often comes from:

Avoiding discomfort

Fear of disappointing others

Emotional immaturity

Overwhelm or burnout

Conflict avoidance

Priorities quietly shifting

Lack of courage to communicate honestly

Understanding the “why” doesn’t excuse the behavior—but it can protect your heart.

Navigating Ghosting During the Holiday Season

The holidays amplify expectations—family harmony, generosity, celebration, gratitude.
So when someone withdraws, the emotional gap feels wider.

You may ask:

Why didn’t they tell me?

Was I not enough?

Do relationships mean nothing anymore?

Before spiraling, pause—because how you respond shapes your wellbeing, leadership, and relationships.

A Servant Leadership Approach to Being Ghosted

Servant leadership doesn’t mean letting others mistreat you.
It means responding with wisdom, dignity, and compassion—toward them and yourself.

1. Pause Before Personalizing

Silence is information—but not always about you.
Don’t rush to self-blame.

Ask: What else might be true?

2. Lead With Empathy, Even When Hurt

You never know someone’s private battles.
Assume complexity, not carelessness.

3. Seek Clarity Once—Not Constantly

A brief, calm message is enough:

“Hope you’re well. Just checking in—still interested in connecting? If not, no worries. Wishing you the best.”

One reach-out honors dignity.
Repeated attempts surrender power.

4. Protect Your Peace

Silence is also an answer.
Release what no longer reciprocates.

Sometimes the gift is knowing sooner.

5. Keep Your Heart Soft, But Your Boundaries Strong

Servant leaders don’t punish—
but they also don’t chase.

6. Reinvest Your Energy Where You’re Valued

Your mission, calling, and leadership deserve responsive, aligned relationships.

If You’re the One Ghosting… Stop.

Because leadership requires:

Courageous communication

Respect for others’ emotional labor

Integrity in relationships

Closure when direction changes

A simple message honors humanity.

A Holiday Reminder

Some people may not show up for you—
but many will.

Don’t let one silent voice drown out the chorus of people who appreciate, value, and believe in you.

The holiday season isn’t about who disappeared—
it’s about who remained.

Leadership Reflection Questions

Who am I giving emotional energy to with no return?

What conversations am I avoiding?

How can I cultivate relationships built on clarity and respect?

Who do I need to release with grace?

Am I leading others the way I want to be led?

The Servant Leader’s Commitment

“I will not disappear from people who depend on me. I will communicate with courage, even when uncomfortable. I will honor others with clarity, honesty, and empathy.”

That is leadership.
That is maturity.
That is service.

Final Word

Being ghosted does not diminish your value—
it reveals someone else’s capacity.

Don’t chase closure.
Lead forward.

Ready to Heal, Lead, and Communicate with Confidence?

Whether you’re:

navigating workplace silence

rebuilding trust

strengthening communication

leading teams electricity, automobiles, computers, the internet. Each time, society asked the same unsettling question:

What will happen to people?

Today, artificial intelligence—especially generative AI—has become the newest force reshaping work, identity, creativity, leadership, and community. It writes, analyzes, designs, summarizes, recommends, predicts, and personalizes faster than any human ever could.

But beneath the excitement sits a quieter concern, whispered in boardrooms, classrooms, hospitals, startups, and government agencies:

Who will lead us through it?

A Real Organizational Case Study

Last year, a Fortune 500 customer-service organization faced declining employee morale, rising turnover, and long support wait times. Leadership invested heavily in AI-driven chat systems—promising faster responses and significant cost savings.

And at first, the numbers looked great:

Response time decreased by 47%

Workload per employee dropped

Operational costs improved

Share

But something else was happening.

Employees began feeling replaced, not supported. Customers grew frustrated when AI misunderstood emotional or complex issues. Managers, now less connected to teams, struggled to identify burnout and conflict.

Within nine months:

Turnover increased

Trust in leadership fell

Customer satisfaction plateaued

Internal communication eroded

It wasn’t the AI that caused damage—
it was the leadership approach.

Hiring technology is easy.
Leading humans through technological change is not.

Finally, the organization shifted course:

Transparent communication about AI’s purpose

AI reframed as a tool—not a threat

Training, coaching, and listening sessions added

Leaders intentionally rebuilt relational trust

Morale improved, retention stabilized, and customer ratings rose—not because AI got smarter, but because leaders did.

The Real Risks of AI Are Human, Not Technical

Leaders must pay attention to dangers beyond algorithms:

Devaluing the workforce

Employees who feel replaceable disengage or leave.

Speed without wisdom

AI can accelerate poor decisions just as easily as good ones.

Loss of empathy & human connection

Efficiency is not the same as belonging.

Moral and ethical drift

Just because AI can doesn’t mean we should.

Silence and secrecy

People fill communication voids with fear—and fear becomes resistance.

Organizations don’t fail because of technology.
They fail because of leadership that ignores humanity.

History Shows Us Something Important

The Industrial Revolution terrified artisans.
The printing press worried scholars.
Computers threatened bookkeepers.
Automation frightened factory workers.

Each era predicted the end of human value.

But every era proved something else:

When leaders serve, adapt, empathize, and include—people don’t disappear.
They rise.

Servant leadership has always been the antidote to technological anxiety—
not by resisting progress, but by honoring people through it.

Why Servant Leadership Is the Bridge in the Age of AI

Servant leaders don’t start by asking:

“How do we use AI?”

They ask:

“How will this affect the people I’m responsible for?”

Servant leadership provides what technology cannot:

Human meaning
Purpose beyond productivity
Ethical guardrails
Psychological safety
Empathy during change
Shared decision-making
Development—not displacement

AI may increase efficiency, but servant leaders increase dignity.

AI may scale operations, but servant leaders scale trust.

AI may analyze patterns, but servant leaders understand people.

In the age of algorithms, the leaders who will matter most are those who still see—and serve—the human soul.

Leadership Reflection Questions

Have I communicated clearly why we’re using AI?

Am I investing in my people as much as my technology?

Who is benefiting—and who may be harmed?

Do my employees feel secure, valued, and heard?

Am I leading with humility or with pressure?

What legacy do I want technology to support?

The future belongs to leaders willing to ask—not just answer—these questions.

So—Who Will Lead Them?

Not the loudest voice.
Not the most technical expert.
Not the one who automates the fastest.

But the leader who listens, protects, empowers, equips, guides, and serves.

The leader who believes people—not platforms—are the greatest asset.

The leader who refuses to sacrifice humanity for efficiency.

The leader who understands that innovation without compassion is just disruption.

Ready to Lead Your Organization Through AI with Confidence and weight becomes too heavy, the expectations too loud, and the pace too unsustainable.

For the prophet Elijah, that moment came right after one of the greatest victories in Scripture.

A Fire-Calling, Nation-Shaking Leader… Who Ran

In 1 Kings 18, Elijah stood alone against 450 prophets of Baal.
He prayed—and fire fell from heaven.
He confronted political corruption, spiritual deception, and national decline with boldness and clarity.

He won.

And yet, the very next chapter opens with a different Elijah—afraid, exhausted, depleted. Queen Jezebel threatened his life, and this time, instead of fighting…

He ran.

Into the wilderness.
Away from responsibility.
Away from people.
Away from purpose.

And when he couldn’t run anymore, he collapsed beneath a broom tree and prayed:

“Lord, I’ve had enough.”

This is not weakness.
This is humanity.

The Broom Tree of Today’s Leaders

Elijah’s broom tree still stands—only now, it’s located in:

The corner office with the door closed

The darkened car after a long workday

The pulpit between Sunday sermons

The living room couch at midnight

The hotel room on another business trip

The silent mental space leaders don’t talk about

Burnout, anxiety, emotional fatigue, compassion depletion—whatever we call it, burnout has a 100% win rate when ignored.

Modern leaders aren’t running from Jezebel…
They’re running from deadlines, expectations, unresolved conflict, unrealistic demands, organizational dysfunction, moral fatigue, and even their own internal narratives.

And many, like Elijah, collapse under a symbolic broom tree:

“I’ve had enough.”

Why Elijah’s Story Matters to Leaders

Because Elijah wasn’t weak—he was worn.
He didn’t lose faith—he lost margin.
He didn’t lose calling—he lost capacity.

Leaders don’t burn out because they are incompetent.
They burn out because they are unattended.

The broom tree reminds us of three truths:

1. Even the Strongest Leaders Get Tired

Talent doesn’t prevent fatigue.
Calling doesn’t eliminate exhaustion.
Success doesn’t guarantee emotional health.

2. Running Is Not the Same as Resting

Escaping is a temporary pause—not restoration.

3. God Meets Leaders in Their Exhaustion

Before instruction came rest.
Before correction came nourishment.
Before recommissioning came compassion.

Elijah didn’t need a rebuke—he needed sleep, food, presence, and perspective.

So do we.

Leadership Lessons From the Broom Tree

1. Celebrate Victories, But Recover From Them

Mountaintops demand energy.
Rest is not optional after big wins.

2. You Cannot Outrun Your Inner Life

Unchecked emotions eventually surface—usually at the worst time.

3. Isolation Feels Safe, But It’s Dangerous

Leadership is not meant to be a solo sport.

4. You Need a Voice Beyond Your Own

God sent an angel to Elijah—leaders need support, coaches, truth-tellers, and encouragers.

5. Your Story Isn’t Over

Burnout feels like an ending—but often, it’s an invitation to transformation.

Share

The Servant Leadership Alternative

Servant leadership doesn’t deny exhaustion—
it anticipates it, addresses it, and prevents it.

Servant leaders:

Know when to retreat and when to reengage

Prioritize health over hurry

Build rhythms—not survival cycles

Develop teams that carry burdens together

Lead from overflow, not depletion

Understand that influence requires inner renewal

They don’t just lead others well—they lead themselves well.

And when they find themselves under a broom tree, they don’t pretend.
They pause, reflect, seek help, recalibrate, and rise again.

Leader, Let Me Ask You…

Where is your broom tree?

What are you running from?

Who knows you’re tired?

What are you carrying alone?

And—most importantly—what would happen if you stopped long enough to breathe, assess, heal, and grow?

It’s Time to Rise—With Support

You don’t have to stay under the broom tree.
Rest is holy—but resignation is not your destiny.

If you’re navigating burnout, leadership fatigue, team conflict, culture change, or personal development barriers…

The Servant’s Touch is here to walk with you.

Through:

Executive and leadership coaching
DISC assessments & debriefing
Organizational development consulting
Mastermind groups
Workshops, training, and keynote speaking
Personal growth journeys
Faith-informed leadership support

Leaders who invest in their growth don’t just survive—they multiply impact.

Call to Action

If you’re ready to rest, rise, and lead renewed—
not from exhaustion, but from purpose—

Visit www.TheServantsTouch.com
Book a coaching session, workshop, or assessment
Bring The Servant’s Touch to your organization, team, or leadership pipeline

Because the world doesn’t need more burned-out leaders—
it needs servant leaders who are whole, grounded, and flourishing.

Your broom tree is not your final chapter.

Experience The Servant’s Touch—where leaders breathe again, grow again, and rise again.

Subscribe now

How to Win the Lottery

What if the greatest jackpot isn’t money—but purpose? They dream of early retirement, paying off debt, helping family, traveling the world, or finally living life on their own terms.

But here’s the truth:

Most people don’t really want to win the lottery—they want what they believe winning would give them:

§ Freedom

§ Possibility

§ Purpose

§ Confidence

§ Permission to dream again

What if you didn’t need a winning ticket to get there?

What if the greatest lottery in life is the ability to inspire people to dream, confront fear, and step courageously into their purpose?

Because the world doesn’t change through jackpots—
it changes when people stop playing small.

The Real Lottery: Helping People Believe Again

Think about the leaders, mentors, teachers, parents, coaches, pastors, and friends who believed in you. The ones who saw more in you than you saw in yourself.

They didn’t give you money.
They gave you vision.
They sparked imagination, confidence, strategy, and movement.

That’s the real lottery—helping people win in life.

Winning is not luck.
Winning is awakening.

Why So Many Never Cash In

Purpose isn’t scarce.
Courage is.

People don’t miss out on their calling because they lack talent, opportunity, or resources.
Most miss out because they never confront the fears that guard the doorway to their future.

Share

Below are the five biggest fears that keep people from walking in purpose:

1. Fear of Failure

The belief:
“If I try and it doesn’t work, I’ll look foolish.”

Impact:
Dreams stay inside journals, hearts, and imaginary futures instead of entering the real world.

Truth:
Failure isn’t fatal—it’s tuition.

2. Fear of Rejection

The belief:
“What if they don’t support me, accept me, or understand?”

Impact:
People settle for approval instead of alignment, applause instead of assignment.

Truth:
The right people don’t need convincing—they need invitation.

3. Fear of Success

The belief:
“What if I actually achieve it—can I handle the responsibility?”

Impact:
Many drift rather than commit, hiding behind “I’m still praying about it.”

Truth:
Growth always requires new capacity—and God provides what purpose demands.

4. Fear of the Unknown

The belief:
“What if I don’t know what to do next?”

Impact:
People choose predictable misery over unfamiliar possibility.

Truth:
Clarity is built through movement, not waiting.

5. Fear of Unworthiness

The belief:
“Who am I to lead, build, speak, start, write, or influence?”

Impact:
Brilliance stays buried, calling stays postponed, leadership stays hidden.

Truth:
Purpose was never about perfection—it was always about stewardship.

Servant Leaders Help People Win the Lottery of Purpose

Servant leadership isn’t about titles, control, or visibility—
it’s about helping others rise.

Servant leaders:

- Draw out dreams people stopped believing in
- Create safe places for growth, mistakes, and learning
- Ask powerful questions that unlock clarity and direction
- Challenge fear rather than accommodate it
- Celebrate progress—not just outcomes
- Build people, not empires

They don’t hand out lottery tickets—
they help people realize they already hold one.

Servant leaders refuse to let others shrink.
They coach. They lift. They guide. They empower.

They help people win the only jackpot that truly matters—
a life lived with meaning, courage, and contribution.

Leadership Reflection

Ask yourself:

Whose dreams are waiting on my encouragement?

What fear have I allowed to sit in the driver’s seat?

When was the last time I invested in someone else’s potential?

Do people leave my presence feeling smaller—or stronger?

What would my life look like if I stopped waiting and started building?

Your calling is not a gamble—it’s a responsibility.

A Final Thought

Winning the lottery would change your bank account.
Winning your purpose will change your life—
and the lives of everyone connected to you.

Courage is the currency.
Faith is the investment.
Action is the ticket.
And impact is the return.

The jackpot is already within reach.
Now—cash it in.

Call to Action — Experience The Servant’s Touch

If you—or your everyone’s face. As usual, the mission wasn’t accomplished—not because of a lack of talent, but because of gaps in unity of effort. You recall when you were coming up the ranks how leadership threw you under the bus and tried to appease their bosses with lip service. But now, fifteen years later… you are “they.”

What do you do?
Do you point out the blind spots of the team you inherited?
Do you cover your backside with documentation that proves who dropped the ball?
Or do you choose something radically different?

Because here is the truth:
The norm in many workplaces is the renter’s mindset.
Do the bare minimum.
Clock in, clock out.
Keep your head down and avoid responsibility.
After all, many muse, “I just work here.”

But leaders—true leaders—cannot simply “work here.”
They shape the culture they inherit.

The Turning Point: Owner vs. Renter

A renter shows up.
An owner takes responsibility.

A renter notices problems.
An owner fixes them.

A renter avoids accountability.
An owner embraces it, embodies it, and elevates others into it.

This is where The Nathan Factor enters the conversation.

In Scripture, Nathan didn’t attack David, but he also didn’t sugarcoat reality.
He spoke truth wrapped in courage, compassion, and clarity—truth that protected the mission, the team, and David’s leadership future.

Every organization needs a Nathan.
Every team needs someone willing to break the cycle of blame, fear, and lip service.

And sometimes that person must be you.

So What Do You Do as a Leader?

1. Break the Cycle of Blame

You inherited a team with gaps. Congratulations—you now have the opportunity to close them.
Don’t waste time pointing backward. Point forward.

2. Build Unity of Effort

Teams fail when they stop rowing in the same direction.
Set expectations, create shared language, and cultivate a climate of collaboration.

3. Address Blind Spots—Without Shaming

Nathan didn’t crush David; he corrected him.
Great leaders call out behaviors, not identities.
They challenge performance while protecting dignity.

4. Shift the Culture from Renting to Owning

People rise to the level of expectation and inspiration.
Teach them that they’re not “just working here”—
they are stewards of a mission bigger than themselves.

5. Model What Right Looks Like

Leadership isn’t positional.
It’s behavioral, consistent, and relational.
Before you demand excellence, demonstrate it.

Leadership Reflections

Use these to challenge yourself or your team:

What part of the culture have I unknowingly allowed, excused, or contributed to?

Where am I operating like a renter instead of an owner?

Who has permission to speak truth into my leadership like Nathan did for David?

What blind spots might be limiting the unity or performance of my team?

What is one courageous action I can take this week to elevate our culture?

Why Servant Leadership Is the Antidote

Servant leadership flips the hierarchy on its head:

Instead of leading from fear, you lead from purpose.
Instead of demanding compliance, you cultivate commitment.
Instead of shaming failure, you shepherd growth.

A servant leader chooses ownership over excuses, truth over comfort, and people over ego.

If you want to shift a team out of the renter’s mindset, servant leadership isn’t optional— it is essential.

Call to Action: Experience The Servant’s Touch

If you’re ready to elevate your leadership, close performance gaps, and build a culture of ownership—not excuses—then it’s time to bring in a 21st-century Nathan.

The Servant’s Touch, LLC specializes in:

Executive coaching that href="https://unsplash.com">Unsplash

Power can elevate leaders—or quietly erode them.

History, Scripture, and organizational life repeatedly teach us the same truth: no leader rises so high that they outgrow the need for correction, accountability, and courageous voices around them. Nowhere is this clearer than in the story of King David and the prophet Nathan.

David’s Fall: When Success Blinds a Leader

David was a man after God’s own heart—anointed, celebrated, victorious. Yet even great leaders become vulnerable when they drift from their disciplines and their accountability.

In 2 Samuel 11, David remained home during the season “kings go off to war.”
What follows is a picture of leadership drift:

He disengaged from his responsibilities.

His comfort became his downfall.

He began to believe the rules no longer applied to him.

He exercised power without integrity.

The result was a moral collapse that spiraled into deception and tragedy.

But the turning point wasn’t simply David’s failure—it was God’s grace in sending Nathan, a courageous truth-teller, to confront him.

Nathan: The Leader Every Leader Needs

Nathan could have protected his position, avoided the confrontation, or stayed silent. Instead, he exemplified rare leadership courage:

He cared more about David’s character than David’s approval.

He spoke truth with clarity, conviction, and compassion.

He confronted power not to shame, but to restore.

Nathan risked everything to save David from himself.

And David—unlike many modern leaders—listened. He received the correction, repented, and recalibrated his leadership.

This story is not merely historical. It’s deeply practical for today’s boardrooms, C-suites, ministries, and teams.

Share

The Nathan Factor: Workplace Principles for Today’s Leaders

1. Every Leader Has Blind Spots

No title, credential, or success eliminates the need for honest feedback.
Blind spots grow in silence. Character grows in truth.

Principle: Leaders who cannot be confronted cannot grow.

2. Success Can Create Isolation

As leaders rise, fewer people feel comfortable speaking truth.
The higher the platform, the more intentional the leader must be in building accountable relationships.

Principle: Healthy leadership requires relational proximity, not positional distance.

3. Truth-Tellers Protect an Organization

Nathan didn’t just save David—the entire nation depended on David’s integrity.

In the workplace, “Nathans” protect culture, mission, morale, and long-term credibility.

Principle: Organizations collapse from the top down, but they heal from the inside out.

4. Courage and Compassion Must Work Together

Nathan didn’t attack David’s identity; he confronted his actions.
He used narrative, wisdom, and empathy to pierce the heart without destroying the man.

Principle: Effective feedback balances truth and grace.

5. Accountability Is the Pathway to Growth

David’s greatest leadership transformation happened after Nathan’s confrontation.

Principle: Leaders grow most when they listen hardest.

Leadership Reflection: Who Is Your Nathan?

Who in your life has permission to tell you the truth?

Who can ask you the uncomfortable questions?

Do your team members feel safe speaking honestly with you?

When was the last time someone challenged your decisions or assumptions?

Are you becoming more self-aware—or more insulated?

Leaders don’t fall because they’re weak—they fall because they’re unchallenged.

Those who grow intentionally invite Nathans into their leadership journey.

Why Servant Leaders Embrace the Nathan Factor

Servant leadership is not soft—it’s courageous.
It demands humility, teachability, and a commitment to truth.

Servant leaders:

Seek accountability, not applause

Prioritize character over image

Elevate others rather than protecting ego

Invite tough conversations

Grow through feedback, not flattery

The Nathan Factor is the heart of servant leadership—truth in service of transformation.

A Call to Action: Let The Servant’s Touch Be Your 21st-Century Nathan

Every leader needs someone who can see what they can’t see.
Someone who speaks truth without fear and leads without judgment.
Someone who guides leaders back to clarity, integrity, and mission focus.

That is the calling of The Servant’s Touch, development

Strategic growth pathways

…leaders receive the insight, honesty, and support they need to thrive.

If you are ready to grow—if you’re And that decision became the birthplace of compromise.

The lesson?
Leaders get in trouble when they step back from the environments that shape their character and sharpen their edge.

We drift when we:

Avoid hard conversations

Delegate away the parts of leadership that keep us grounded

Choose comfort over calling

Stop engaging with the people we are called to serve

Remove ourselves from the spaces that demand accountability

True leaders stay connected to the battle—the work that keeps them humble, focused, and aware.
When leaders disconnect from the front lines, their discernment weakens and their vulnerability increases.

Ask yourself:
Where have I stepped back when I should be stepping in?

2. Strengthen Your Accountability Circle

One of David’s most dangerous decisions wasn’t moral—it was relational.

He stopped listening.

He had advisors. He had prophets. He had mighty men.
But success has a strange way of making leaders allergic to accountability.

Every leader needs:

A truth-teller

Someone who loves you enough to confront you.

A spiritual anchor

Someone who helps you slow down, reflect, pray, and stay grounded.

A coach or mentor

Someone who sees your blind spots and accelerates your growth.

A peer who isn’t impressed by you

Someone who keeps you human, honest, and humble.

Success becomes dangerous the moment you become the only one who can tell yourself “no.”

Leaders rarely fall because of lack of intelligence.
They fall because of lack of accountability.

Share

3. Practice Rhythms That Keep You Awake

Leadership drift happens when spiritual, emotional, and practical disciplines fade.

David’s rooftop moment was the failure of many neglected rhythms.

Every leader needs disciplines that sharpen the soul:

• Daily reflection or prayer

Keeps you grounded in purpose.

• Weekly rest and recalibration

Prevents exhaustion from turning into erosion.

• Monthly evaluation of habits and drift

Helps you see where “just this once” is becoming your new pattern.

• Quarterly leadership coaching

Provides clarity, reinforcement, and guided growth.

• Honest conversations about character

Protects your integrity from hidden decay.

Success must be stewarded as intentionally as struggle.
When you stop practicing the rhythms that built you, you become vulnerable to the forces that can break you.

4. Remember That Success Can Be a Setup

Success is not the enemy.
But unmanaged success is a silent assassin.

David forgot that every season—good or bad—requires a fight:

A fight for clarity

A fight for humility

A fight for integrity

A fight for emotional and spiritual strength

Success can deceive you into thinking the battle is over… but leadership battlefields never stop shifting.

The moment you stop fighting is the moment the enemy of your purpose starts planning.

Leadership Reflection Questions

Take time to reflect—honestly and courageously:

Where have I become disengaged from the work that strengthens my character?

Who has permission to challenge me when I drift?

Which discipline have I neglected that once kept me grounded?

When was the last time I slowed down long enough to evaluate my leadership patterns?

Is my success making me sharper… or sleepier?

Leaders who stay awake stay effective.
Leaders who stay connected stay accountable.
Leaders who stay humble stay protected.

Call to Action: Strengthen Your Leadership With The Servant’s Touch

If you sense any signs of drift in your leadership, team, or organization, now is the time to take intentional action.

The Servant’s Touch, LLC equips leaders to:

Rebuild healthy rhythms

Strengthen accountability systems

Re-center identity and purpose

Develop spiritual and emotional resilience

Realign leadership habits with calling

Identify and repair leadership drift

Elevate performance through coaching and proven frameworks

Don’t wait until drift becomes damage.
Don’t wait until comfort becomes compromise.
Don’t wait until success becomes a setup.

Start your leadership recalibration at www.TheServantsTouch.com
Book coaching, a DISC assessment, or organizational development session
Experience a leadership shift that protects your character and expands your capacity

Your calling deserves to be guarded.
Your leadership deserves to be sharpened.
Your future deserves The Servant’s Touch.

Subscribe now
